The ICF (International Coaching Federation) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.”
Who benefits from coaching?
Anyone looking to make big changes. Executive coaching can help senior managers and team leads lead more effectively. It can help newly appointed executives and junior managers adapt to new challenges. Executive coaching can reduce stress, increase productivity, (re)align people with their vision and values and result in more fulfilling professional and personal relationships.
How I work with Clients
At first, I’ll invite you to a 30- 60 minute chemistry call. I’ll ask you to talk about the change(s) you’d like to make, the ideal outcome, where you are now and what you think (if anything) stands in the way of your goal. I’ll explain how I can support you with the right coaching programme. If it feels like a match, I’ll draw up a coaching agenda and ask you to read and sign a coaching agreement. Every session will start by you choosing the topic, setting the outcome and measures of success. We’ll end by considering lessons learned, designing actions and accountability measures. You’ll leave each session with a plan of action allowing you to work on your own until we meet for the following session.
Benefits of working with me
My clients benefit from my idealism, which is rooted in an international perspective and the daily reality of business. I can immerse myself in a corporate space, get a feel of what it’s like whilst remaining detached enough to keep viewing it from the outside in. I often help my clients face hard truths (that their environment keeps from them), but always with warmth and compassion and in support of the deep-seated changes they want to see in their business and personal lives.
As a certified executive coach and life coach, business English, presentation and storytelling trainer, I give people and organisations the confidence to reach their full potential in English. I believe in people’s ability to make bold changes (whatever the starting points).
My starting point was growing up in a dysfunctional environment in one of the toughest housing estates in Dublin. Later, I was the first person in my family to get a university degree. You don’t achieve something like that through effort alone. I know how important it is to have the right kind of support.
Since then, I have strategically built my life and business to match my values, strengths and experience. After university I moved to Edinburgh, then spent 7 years in Madrid as an English teacher before moving to Berlin in 2005 where I have established myself as a successful business English trainer, executive coach and business manager. I am an outsider who is used to fitting in. I look conventional but am unconventional, an English speaker from Ireland who also feels at home in Spanish and German.
